I’m unsure if I should be concerned that I must think so much about what to write each day for Slice of Life. I ventured through my archives to find topics I wrote about last year. One was a list of very random thoughts. So, guess what today’s topic will be.
You got it. Random thoughts.
RT #1:
High school reunion in August. What should I wear?
RT #2:
It’s nearly impossible for me to lose weight during the winter months. It’s never easy, but the colder months make stepping on the scale or even looking at myself in the mirror a ghastly event. One avoided at all costs. I get more steps in with the warmer months thanks to yard work. Now, if I can only drop pounds as quickly as gas prices increase, I’ll be set.
RT #3:
I love my yard. Worked five hours today without stopping to take a breath. Every minute enjoyable – mostly because I didn’t encounter snakes. I hate snakes. I hate my fence in the backyard even more. Eyesore.
RT #4:
This is my twenty-third year of teaching. I have had 800 + students (1600 + parents), numerous admin, and about twenty teammates (only counting homeroom teachers). What’s one word that describes my teaching career? Lonely.
RT #5:
Scorcese is a great filmmaker. There’s no denying that. I’m not the biggest fan of mafia movies and F-bombs every other word, but he’s terrific. Hugo is a wonderful flick – although directors should ALWAYS thank the author of the book they adapted into a screenplay. Scorcese did not for Hugo. I’m in the middle of Killers of the Flower Moon. Only eight more hours to go. I have no great desire to finish it. There is no one to cheer for. The good people die. This is a tragic story. But what impressed me the most was Scorcese making an R movie without hardly an F-bomb. See? They aren’t necessary.
RT #6:
My vocabulary is not strong. Never has been. I have no idea what vagary, vacuous, potentate and puerile mean. Do you?
The potentate leader proved his level of puerility when sharing vacuous suggestions to administer proper punishment for the criminal’s vagaries.
Okay, now I do.
RT #7:
I’m reading my first Ruth Ware book, The Woman in Cabin 10. I recently read The Postman. Say what you will about the movie; it’s a great story. The book was dreadful.
The best books I’v read so far in 2024:
· Directed by James Burrows
· The Boys in the Boat
· The Church of Baseball
· Comedy, Comedy, Comedy
· You Could Make This Place Beautiful
· The Things We Cannot Say
· Remarkably Bright Creatures
· The Art of Memoir
RT #8:
Watching Cobra Kai. Again.
RT #9:
Blizzards from Dairy Queen are $6. What?! How? When? WHY?!? I mean, they’re good, but geesh, Almighty!
RT #10:
Spring Break! Five more days! Five!
Dream Out Loud,
